Sustainability & Ethics

At Oculora, we believe that aesthetics and ethics aren’t opposites - they’re allies. This page is here to show you how we do things differently. Our approach to sustainability is rooted in creativity, care, and transparency. It’s not about greenwashing or guilt. It’s about building a business that aligns with values and invites you to do the same. Below, you’ll find how our Print-On-Demand model reduces waste, what our materials are made of, how we approach inclusivity, where we’re still growing, and how you can join us in doing better - together.

Print-On-Demand

The mass production of the fashion industry is resource and labor intensive. That’s why every Oculora item is made only after you order it - not before. This approach avoids the overproduction that defines fast fashion and keeps warehouses and landfills clear of unsold stock. Print-on-demand allows us to create intentionally, not excessively. It also gives you a chance to slow down, choose what resonates, and wear it with purpose.

Materials & Printing

We work with trusted print partners who prioritize lower-impact materials and processes.  Our printing partner’s high-quality printing tech creates almost no wastewater and uses less energy than standard industry printers. Many of our garments are made from cotton/poly blends certified by OEKO-TEX®. The inks we use for printing are OEKO-TEX™ certified, vegan, water-based, and free of harmful chemicals. Our designs are printed using  direct-to-garment (DTG) and sublimation printing methods, reducing excess dye and water waste. As we grow, we’re seeking even better fabric options, with a focus on organic and recycled blends.

Shipping & Packaging

All apparel products are packed in post-consumer recycled (PCR) plastic mailers. The amount of PCR in the packaging will differ depending on where your order gets printed, but it’s a minimum of 70% for both the outside poly mailer bags and the inside clear bags used in multi-item shipments.

PCR packaging is made from everyday items like used plastic bags and bottles. This material protects your items just as well as regular plastic bags. However, choosing PCR over first-use plastics reduces the environmental impact plastic has on our planet.

Size Inclusivity

We see inclusivity as  a design principle. We want Oculora pieces to be worn by more people, more comfortably. That’s why we work with suppliers who offer a wide range of product sizes and choices across collections. Everyone deserves to feel like art, and that starts with garments that fit well, look good, and move with you. If you don’t see your size yet, we want to hear from you. Get in touch.

We’re Not There Yet

Sustainability isn’t a finish line, it’s an ongoing process. We’re proud of what we’ve built so far, but we’re not pretending it’s perfect. There’s room to grow, and we’re actively working toward: more eco-conscious garment choices, regional fulfillment to reduce shipping emissions, compostable packaging options, and built-in offset tools at checkout. This is a living part of our brand - and we’ll continue sharing updates, challenges, and shifts transparently.

How You Can Help

Oculora isn’t just a store - it’s a collaboration. When you shop here, you’re not supporting mass-production. You’re choosing pieces made with care and built to last. Want to amplify your impact? Wash cold, air dry, and wear often. Reuse or recycle your packaging. And most importantly - shop slowly. Buy what you love and let your mindful choices ripple outward. Together, we create a more thoughtful fashion future.
